Hillary Hickland, a Republican elected in 2025 to represent Texas’s 55th House district, recently posted a series of statements on her social media account addressing education-related developments and concerns in the state.

On September 12, 2025, Hickland expressed appreciation for recent actions by Texas officials, stating, “Thank you. This is so needed. @Burrows4TX @DanPatrick”.

The following day, she addressed concerns regarding educator conduct online. On September 13, 2025, Hickland wrote, “The Texas Education Agency has issued a letter addressing deeply inappropriate social media posts made by a few educators. No one entrusted with shaping young minds should ever mock or celebrate the loss of human life.

Our schools must remain safe places for children to learn,”.

Later that same day, Hickland commented on changes to the state’s educational framework: “Big news for Texas students! The State Board of Education has passed a new framework for our schools that provides a comprehensive model rooted in the richness of Texas and American history. I was there to see it happen, and it’s such an exciting step forward. Our kids deserve”.

Hickland assumed office after winning election in 2025 to succeed Hugh Shine as representative for District 55 in the Texas State House.
