City of Cameron issued the following announcement on April 2
The City of Cameron was hit with ransomware during this very vulnerable time. Fortunately, the city was already in the process of converting to a newer computer hardware, software and system upgrades. This act has sped up the process. At this time, new computers and software have been installed and the City is working toward getting the system up and running. Due to the COVID-19 virus and the recent ransomware issue some City services will be delayed or done through different processes.
What can you expect from City Hall and public services?
• City Hall is open, at this time, with limited services. We recommend that you use the drop off box for utility bills and have limited contact with staff.
• No walk-in appointments, please call or email ahead at 254-697-6646. All board meetings such as Planning and Zoning or municipal court have been cancelled and will not be rescheduled until further notice. City Council Meetings may be rescheduled.
• Water, Waste Water, Park and Street Department work crews are available and services are normal.
• The Library is closed to the public until further notice. Tax forms are available upon request, you may call 254-697-2401 for assistance. All library programs, computer services and check out of books are cancelled.
• The Police Department, Fire Department and AMR are open and ready to serve the public. The front doors may be unlocked; however, limited contact is encouraged.
• Street and Park Department the staff will continue to work on roads. They will also sanitize playground and park equipment on alternate days. It is recommended to not use park equipment and stay at home.
• Animal Control and Code Enforcement will have limitations.
• The Garbage Service will operate on their normally scheduled times. THERE WILL BE NO BULK TRASH PICKUPS UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE! For the health and safety of the collection staff; no other trash bags or bulk items set aside will be picked up. Everything must fit in the GREEN CONTAINER TO BE PICKED UP.
