A military joint-use airport in Central Texas recently received federal funding.

Rep. John Carter (R-Texas) said the Robert Gray Army Airfield in Fort Hood was awarded a $1.5 federal grant. Originally funded by Carter’s House Appropriations Committee and awarded through the Airport Improvement Program, the money will go toward the construction of a 10,000-square-foot hangar.

“This investment in airport infrastructure will improve travel, working conditions and safety at Robert Gray Army Airfield,” Carter said in a press release. “As a member of the Appropriations Committee that’s responsible for funding these grants, I’m always pleased to see my constituents hard-earned tax dollars returned home to improve our community. I look forward to seeing this project completed at Robert Gray Army Airfield.”
