City approves slight tax bump for Copperas Cove home owners

Home owners in the City of Copperas Cove can expect to see an increase in the taxable values of their properties.

According to a Tax Payer Impact Statement released by the city, the average homestead in the city will see an annual tax increase of $53.36. The County Appraisal Districts said that amounts to a taxable value increase of 5.84%. While homeowners will experience a slight bump in taxes, the overall city property tax rate will remain the same at $0.7865 per $100 of valuation. 

The city’s fee schedule went into effect Oct. 1 and it includes a comprehensive list of utility rate changes, building and development fees, and a host of other fees that will be charged by the city.

The total sales tax rate, which includes city and state taxes, stands at 8.25%, according to the city’s website.
