CITY OF KILLEEN: Youth Athletic Programs Registering Now

City of Killeen issued the following announcement on Oct. 7.

Registration is open for Killeen Recreation youth soccer and basketball camps and leagues.

Lonestar Soccer Club is offering Friday Fun Nights October 9 and November 6 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Lions Club Park. These mini camps are for players ages U4 to U14 at all skill levels. Coaches will run drills and work on player skill development. There is no cost to participate, but advance registration is required at Lonestar-sc.typeform.com/to/KaRrQIZT.

Youth soccer league is for boys and girls ages 4 to 15. Practices begin in January, and games are played in February and March at Lions Club Park. The cost is $50 per player.

Competitive Edge Girls Basketball Camp is scheduled December 6 from 2 to 6 p.m. at the Family Recreation Center. Coach Ashley Roberts will work with players to develop ball handling, shooting, defense and passing skills. The cost is $80 per player through November 27, or $100 per player November 28 through December 4. Camp participants can receive $10 off registration for girls basketball league when purchased together in person at the Family Recreation Center.

Girls basketball league is for girls ages 7 to 12. The league is separated by age division. Teams begin practice in January, and games are played in February and March at the Family Recreation Center and Rosa Hereford Killeen Community Center. The cost is $50 per player, or $40 with the camp participant discount.

Registration for soccer and basketball leagues closes January 3. Register in person at the Family Recreation Center or online at KilleenTexas.gov/Leagues. For more information, email KPR-Athletics@KilleenTexas.gov.
