City of Killeen issued the following announcement on Oct. 14.
Progress will continue on water infrastructure improvements in northwest Killeen over the coming weeks. Daily lane closures are planned October 14 through 30 on Kern Road, from Hillcrest Drive and Walton Walker Drive, and October 14 through November 6 on Fairview Drive, from Valley Road to Rocky Lane.
Crews will be installing a new water main and must enter the roadway to complete the work.
One lane will remain open to through traffic during work hours, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., and all lanes will be reopened after work concludes each day. Traffic will be detoured around worksites, and motorists are asked to use caution and obey traffic control devices.
These closures are for the Waterline Rehab Phase 3 project, which will replace 3.5 miles of aged and undersized waterlines and associated fire hydrants in northwest Killeen.
The City of Killeen apologizes for any inconvenience as a result of this work and appreciates your cooperation as we improve this water infrastructure.
