How many African American students were enrolled in Killeen ISD schools in 2022-23 school year?

There were 14,666 African American students enrolled in Killeen ISD schools in the 2022-23 school year, 2.1% less than the previous year, according to the Texas Education Agency.

Data showed that Killeen ISD schools welcomed 43,935 students during the 2022-23 school year. Among them, African American students comprised 33.4% of the student body to be one of the most represented ethnicities in the district.

Killeen ISD roughly covers schools within Bell County and has a main office in Killeen.

Among the 54 schools in Killeen ISD schools, Robert M. Shoemaker High School recorded the highest enrollment of African American students in the 2022-23 school year, with a total of 940 students.

Texas is found to be one of the least-educated states in the U.S. A study from WalletHub ranked Texas 41st out of 50 states in terms of the quality of the educational system and how successful students were.

More than 5.4 million students are enrolled in public schools across Texas. Nearly one million of them live in rural areas where options for local public schools are few and far between.
