There were 154 students enrolled in Gause ISD schools in the 2022-23 school year, 5.5% less than the previous year, according to the Texas Education Agency.

Of all the students welcomed in the 2022-23 school year, 56.5% of them were girls, and 43.5% were boys.

The most represented ethnicity among Gause ISD students was white, accounting for 44.8% of the student population.

Gause ISD roughly covers schools within Milam County with its main office in Gause.

Education in Texas is often a hot button issue, especially as test scores lag behind other states.

"The problems commonly cited are flaws in the school financing system, relatively low teacher salary, poor test performance by students... dropouts from traditional schools in favor of charter schools... gun violence, and mental health issues," claimed the Texas Almanac.
